At help2read we believe that education is the cornerstone of every nation, and reading is the cornerstone of every education.
Our mission is to share the joy of books with as many children as possible, empowering them with vital literacy skills they can pass on to their peers and future
generations.
help2read is a South African NGO based on the methods developed over the last 30 years by UK charity Volunteer Reading Help (VRH: www.vrh.org.uk).
VRH helps children who have difficulty reading learn to love books and reading.
Their results are astounding: Out of 7000+ children a year that VRH help, teachers’ reports say:
• 97% showed improved reading
• 96% showed improved self-confidence
• 92% showed improved general motivation
• 92% showed improved general attitude
(VRH 2004 teacher-completed national survey,

Established in South Africa in October 2005, help2read’s Cape Town office is run by General Manager, Janet Bruwer. help2read is a Section 21 non-profit company (registered as the Moss Educational Foundation and trading as help2read).
